I'd give him the most obvious and latest date of the 2 i.e registered and wait to see if they specifically ask for date of build. I've px'd 2 and never been asked for more than that

If you are selling then it's the reg, if you are buying it's the manufacture date.

Yes I understand but it’s very confusing, as I see it it’s dictated by the different features , ie 2018 model v 2019, 2019 has alloys 2018 doesn’t , and different upholstery from 2018 to 2019 models , although produced in September 2018 but has 2019 spec , registered in 2019 ,so which year is this one

There used to be complaints in French motorhome magazines about secondhand values published by the magazines significantly differing from the amounts motorhome dealers asked or would pay. This resulted in the ‘collection’ concept, which equates to the ‘model year' in the UK.

A motorhome’s date of UK-registration is often very misleading. There have been instances reported on this forum where a motorhome bought ‘brand new’ was later found to have left the converter’s factory two years previously.

It’s commonplace on this (and other) forums for a motorhome’s UK registration year to be quoted whan the vehicle’s age is asked about, but this ovelooks critical change dates (eg. for Ducato mid-2006 or mid-2014) when major specification changes were made to the base-vehicle. Compliance with a parttcular Euro emissions standard has also become important in the last few years.

In this instance, it’s commonplace for ‘conversion changes’ to be implemented beginning in the second half of a year. So a motorhome built in September 2018 should be expected to have a 2019 collection/model-year specification that won’t alter until mid-2019 at the earliest. That it might have been UK-registered in September 2018 or April 2019 won’t affect this, though - in the latter case - it might be asked where the motorhome has been from September 18 to April 19. (My first motorhome was built in early-1996, but not UK-registered until mid-1997, so was a 1996 model.)

I agree with Colin - it’s up to the dealer to decide which date matters.

Paul,

I would refer to your AT as either a 2019 Model Year or a 2019 Facelift. This should remove the ambiguity over which years trim, etc. it has.

Keith.
