Welcome to the forum.

Can't help but it might be worth seaching a bit closer to home as you need engine parts only.

A contributor on this forum is from Australia who my have knowledge of peugeot/fiat spares in the southern hemisphere. His username is Geeco.

As should be evident from the 1993-1999 list of motors on this Fiat Ducato Wikipedia entry

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Ducato

there were major variations in the motors fitted to Peugeot Boxers/Citroen Jumpers or Fiat Ducatos during that period.

As Boxer parts are required (not Elddis parts) it’s largely academic that the vehicle in New Zealand is a motorhome. A quick internet search suggests that some ‘running gear’ parts (eg. brake rotors) are still marketeed new, but I’ve no idea which motor parts are available nowadays. It seems likely that, if a Peugeot agent in New Zealand cannot provide the motor-related parts that Denis wants as brand-new components, this would also be true for UK Peugeot agents.

Identifying secondhand motor parts (rockers, cams, etc.) would require the motor to be exactly specified, but ensuring those parts were in good condition would be challenging and then there’d be the matter of payment and (presumably) sending the parts to New Zealand.

I’m unsure how Denis envisages this exercise being carried out, as the logistics involved seem to make it a non-starter.

Hi Denis, welcome to this fine forum.

Peugeot Boxers of your vintage I suspect are as rare as rocking horse manure in this part of the world.

Two long shots that are worth a try;

#www.citywrecker.com.au  in Melbourne is showing a 2008 Expert van with a 2.0HDI Turbo engine for sale unregistered.

#www.asv.com.au  is a wrecker located in Sydney & show lots of pug cars. If they can not assist they might know where you could try.

Hope this helps,

Haere ra,

The Boxer./Ducatos of this era did not share engines.

There were two sizes for the Boxer. a two litre XUD 8 Valve units and 2.5 litre. 12 valve T9B. They came in a range of power outputs ,Some were turbocharged. Both are indirect injection. The smaller engine was usedd in many Citroen and Peugeot cars of the era. By now all will have covered high mileages and the chances of finding a good one are not good.

come back with chassis number and prferably engine size and we might be able to help more.

Hi Denis

Have you explored if there are any specialist Automotive refurbishing companies locally ?

I'm tending to think that you would be restricted to the vehicle breaker aftermarket & could have wear problems with any components.

Race preparation workshops could be a source.

Your engine was developed jointly with Ford, so may share some common parts. Ford has presumably got a higher presence in NZ, so try a good independent commercial Ford garage who deal with older vehicles.

Good luck.

(Parts can have both makers' numbers on the box)

Your engine was developed jointly with Ford...

Are you sure about that?

The motorhome involved is a 1997 Elddis Autostratus and Denis has said that the motor he is trying to obtain parts for has a capacity of 2446cc. This suggests it is either the PSA T8A or PSA T9A unit fitted to Peugeot Boxers from 1994 to 1998.

Ford-derived motors were fitted to Boxers from 2006-onwards, but I was under the impression that this wasn’t the case in the late-1990s.

I picked that up from that fount of unreliable knowledge Wikipedia, by searching "2446cc peugeot diesel".

So much for the internet!

But wasn't it also used by Citröen?

I GOOGLEd using "2446cc peugeot diesel” as the search-term and couldn’t find anything in Wikipedia to indicate that the 2446cc motor had a connection to Ford.

The Wikipedia Fiat Ducato entry lists the powerplants fitted to Ducato and to its Peugeot and Citroen stablemates

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Ducato

For the 1994-1998 period the 2446cc motors are referred to as PSA T9A or PSA T8A, with the former being naturally-aspirated and the latter turbocharged. Both entries carry the footnote "Only for Citroën Jumper and Peugeot Boxer”.

Assuming that it’s the presence or not of a turbocharger that is the significant difference between the two motors, either should provide the parts Denis is seeking, and a GOOGLE search on “PSA T9A” and “PSA T8A” does retrieve some entries (for example)

https://www.tecnicasdelmotor.com/producto/motor-regenerado-psa-2-5td-tipo-t8a-garantia-12-meses/

There’s a reasonable likelihood that - somewhere in the world - someone has the camshaft rockers and followers that Denis wants and that those parts are in new condition, or that - somewhere in the UK - someone has a ‘dead’ PSA T9A or T8A motor that has good-condition rockers and followers. But, realistically, the chances are near enough zero that anyone on this forum will be able to identify who those ‘someones’ are.

My point, really, was that the chances of locating what you are looking for through a small UK motorhome-related forum are minimal.

A GOOGLE-search indicates that cylnder heads for this motor are occasionally advertised (examples here)

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-CITROEN-FIAT-2-5D-T8A-DJ5T-ZYLINDERKOPF-/113370800781

http://www.athousakis.gr/en/product/cylinder-head-peugeot-citroen-9629473610-8906/

http://www.gasgoo.com/showroom/birene01/auto-products/1507258.html

but they could be anywhere in the world.

There’s a sporting chance that, if a cylinder head is available, the rockers and cam-followers may also be, but I suspect it’s going to take a lot of effort on your part to track down the items you need.

I realize that ...thats why I joined a forum 14000 km away on the other side of the world.

what else could I do I have contacted all european wreckers in NZ and every one I could find to contact in Aussie.

There was always an off chance that someone had an old motor laying around or knew someone who did.

Thanks Denis.
