kevin hawkins
I know that the fridge will run on the 12v supply when the engine is running, however, does the zig unit have to be switched 'on' or will it still work with the zig unit switched 'off', i.e. is it fed direct from the car battery and doesn't go through the zig unit? All on an Autosleeper Transit. Help appreciated. Kevin Hawkins (lol)
Derek Uzzell
The motorhome's 12V control-panel (assuming that's what you mean by "zig unit") normally has no role in the 12V operation of a 3-way fridge.
mom
In my autosleeper VW Trident, the fridge is independant of the zig switch.
Guest peter
The fridge runs straight off the starter but only when the engine is running. There is a relay that closes as soon as the alternator starts charging, so you don't run down your starter battery. Much the same as on a caravan and the Zig unit does not need to be switched on.
