Hi Everyone.. i wonder if anyone can advise me with a problem i have with my wind up skylight on my Chausson Allegro 97. The strings have come out of the blind both sides so unable to use it and having tried rethreading it by a firm that do van conversions they gave up once they took it apart saying it was near impossible to do!..also the winding handle to open and close the skylight has seized up and stopped working altogether..it's in the locked position and has been left like this for fear of not locking again if i try opening it and wont lock again!..i wonder if it can be changed altogether..the whole lot but i imagine it would be a very expensive job to do...does anyone have any advise for me as im'e hoping to sell it soon but obviously it dosn't look good when showing anyone that's interested in buying it. any advise much appreciated! regards Nigel.

I notice that you asked about your Chausson’s rooflight(s) back in 2015

with the latter enquiry referring to problems with the ’strings’ on the concertina-blind on one of the rooflights.

For the record, the Allegro 97 model was only marketed for a short while (2008-2010?) and there’s a review here.

The model has two large rooflights - a curved one over the cab area and another further back (see image attached below)

There is some on-line discussion about Chausson Allegro 97 rooflights and it would appear that one of the 97’s rooflights is a Remis “Vario” product and - given an Allegro 97’s age - probably a “Vario 1”. (Presumably this rooflight is the nearest one in the photo where the operating handle is partially visible.)

This 2018 forum thread discussed operating problems with a Vario 1 rooflight

when it was said that spares were unobtainable and, if a Vario 1 rooflight became completely unserviceable, replacement with a Vario 2 might be necessary.

It might be practicable to deal with the ’strings’ but if the gearbox mechanism has also failed, replacement of the complete rooflight (undoubtedly very expensive) might be the only option.

A GOOGLE-search on “remis vario 1 repairs” produced the following results
