Guest chas
Does antifreeze damage wiring, plastics and paintwork. Can it do any long term damage if not cleaned properly? Our system has been leaking antifreeze and has soaked carpet etc. We are worried that it could cause damage to wiring etc. if not cleaned up correctly. Guest Clive
Most antifreeze contains glycol. Providing your carpet and wiring is not subjected to this for prolonged periods you will probably get away with it. It may discolour your carpet and remove the coloured stripes or print from the wiring. But you do need to get the leak fixed and wash out the infected bits with water before drying out thoroughly.
