We are considering hiring a motorhome abroad, either southern spain or Italy, with the intension of flying out and saving journey time. Anyone any experience of this, pros and cons? Any suggestions or feedback about hirers abroad welcome. This is the first time we have contemplated this so fairly naive... a middle aged cuople, no kids or dogs!! Thanks

The pivotal question must surely be "do you have you own motorhome at home". If the answer is NO then sure, go for it. Your local travel agent will have Motorhomes for hire in many tourist centres. Look at the brosures or do a search with Google. If the answer is YES then perhaps a grand a week for hire costs for a nice one might induce you to think again. It will cost nothing like this to take your own to Spain. Good luck

As Clive says if you have your own motorhome take it over Travelling via Portsmouth to Bilbao costs in the region of £600 with a super delux cabin (TV bottle of bubbly twin or double bed option) It is two nights out & one return We went that way on our first trip It is like a mini ocean cruise I have met people who hired MH's in Spain OK they looked well prepered but cost approx £700 /week for a smallish one Which compares well with the UK New Zealand rates are in the region of 70NZ Dollars /DAY (about £32/day) all depending on the firm you hire from Another thing about hiring is that some firms restrict you to travel in the country of hire We normally start in Spain then go to Portugal It is only a days drive from Faro to Almeria Ask on www.motorhometoday.co.uk it is a free web site for motorhomes & surely you will get some advice there Good travelling however you go

Easirent,an English firm, have a hire depot near Malaga. Try their website. Cut price airlines fly into Malaga from airports around the UK. Try Easyjet,Ryanair,BMI Baby,Fly Be etc. Good luck.
