Hi guys, we've booked on 07.20 train June 1st. This will be our first trip with our poodle puppy. We've never noticed the Pet Reception before as it was not relevant...... where is it on the complex, please? Will the 'drive through' be open that early.?

SORRY WRONG PLACE DON'T KNOW HOW TO DELETE...HAVE POSTED IN CHATTERBOX ALSO

Hi, on your return you will see signs for the Pet Passport Centre which is on your right before you get to the automatic barriers - if you do get that far by mistake (and assuming you are pre-booked) the machine will advise you to go back to pet passport checkin.

Only required (at the moment) on return to the UK. You need your pet passport fully up to date, it helps if you know where the micro chip is, they can move under the dog's skin.

As said, the office is on the right of the terminals, before the queue starts usually, if you arrive early you can get your dog checked and drive to cite europe for last minute shopping.

It’s worth bearing in mind that Brexit may well have a big impact on how pets are inspected before a Channel crossing; the emphasis may shift from sloppy outbound but scrupulous inbound checks before returning to UK (as at present) to nit-picking outbound checks, if (for example the French) decide to treat UK pets as emanating from a “Third Country” and so require evidence of a confirmatory blood test after the rabies immunisation, which is not currently required. It is unlikely that there will be any ramping up of checks before a return to UK, which are determined by UK requirements, which should not change.

Brexit is currently scheduled for 31st October and if (big if) this holds, it should be safe enough planning to leave UK before 31st October without bothering with blood tests because there are no checks crossing between Continental countries once you are over there and blood tests are unlikely to be required for return to UK.

For technical reasons, blood tests on their own long after immunisation are almost certain to fail to confirm immunisation, so you will have to pay for a booster immunisation followed by a blood test about a month later. Some vets are quoting fees of over £200 per pet for this, so it’s worth avoiding if possible. (Having the early booster and then a blood test conveys no benefit at all to the pet.)

We’re due to leave UK for an autumn tour in early September so I’m delaying my Eurotunnel booking until it become clear whether Brexit will happen earlier than he end of October. My current best guess is that despite a big vote for the Brexit Party in the forthcoming EU elections, Remainer MPs will continue to block Brexit (bydemending another Referendum, as Keri Starmer is now doing) and our Government will keep kicking the can down the road rather than face either another Referendum or a General Election.
