varonda
It's academic now but will the Shurflo pump diaphragm kit fit a Purflo pump ? my Purflo was not performing very well so I stripped and cleaned it , didn't appear to be any issues other than a bit of what looked like a bit of limescale on the rubber diaphragm , put it back and it was better but still not that good. Looking on the web and found no bits for the Purflo but the Shurflo look identical however looking at the price for a Shurflo repair kit and a new complete unit is only 20 quid or so more it's a no brainer but I'm just curious if they are the same , side by side on the bench other than the sticker on the side they appear the same , anyway the new pump is in and working ok making me realise just how bad the old one was performing , it's annoying really cos the original pump motor and casings are fine and I'd have preferred a repair but hey ho it's all new so I'll forget about it for a few years [ hopefully ]. Derek Uzzell
Are you certain your old water pump is branded “PURFLO”, as I can’t find any on-line reference to that make? There were UK-made ‘clones’ of SHURflo Trail King water pumps, but these were branded “POSIFLO”. (example image attached below). Posiflo pumps were mentioned in this 2014 forum thread https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Water-Pump/35842/ and you’ll see that - in my posting of 22 August 2014 8:54 AM - I said "many spare parts are interchangeable between SHURflo and Posiflo pumps” So a repair kit for a SHURflo Trail King pump might well be usable for a Posiflo equivalent. Also mentioned here in 2019 https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Posiflo-3000-pump-issue/53749/ SHURflo pumps are now made in Mexico, but built-under-licence copies (with a “LILIE” brand name) are marketed in Germany and were fitted in some German motorhomes (eg. Carthago models). https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Domestic-Water-Pump/50621/ Not sure if that might be relevant in your case as I don’t know what motorhome you own. https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/IDENTIFYING-YOUR-MOTORHOME/54713/
Deffheads
We had a slight leak on our Sureflow pump, it was from the diaphragm housing, looked at service kit and decided it was better value to buy a new one off Ebay and keep old one for spares. Cost around £50, which now good for another 13 years.
