CC site Old Hartley

We have just spent the weekend "up north" and stayed on the carsvan club's site at Old Hartley near Whitly Bay N.E. of the Tyne Tunnel on the Friday night. The welcome was friendly, the tempory toilets and showers were very clean (some sights with perm blocks could learn from this) but the best thing about this site to our mind was the view. On arriving on site at around one o'clockish Friday afternoon, Sue, who had given us directions over the phone, (forgotten to take book with address with us) told me about the do's and dont's and then sent me off to find my own pitch. The site is on a slope and looks out over the sea and St Mary's lighthouse. After driving around the site we choose a pitch near the top and set up camp. The view was good but better was to come. In the morning after a quiet and restful night on opening the blinds at around 8:15 the sun was up over the horizen and was reflected off a calm sea. This is a site that we will visit again despite our prefrence for CL's
