butch
Can anyone recommend any sites either in or on the outskirts of Edinburgh but with good public transport links for the centre ?? Or alternatively are there any Motorhome friendly car parks in the middle of Edinburgh ?? Cheers
GJH
butch - 2007-09-09 11:45 AM Can anyone recommend any sites either in or on the outskirts of Edinburgh but with good public transport links for the centre ?? The Caravan Club site on the Firth of Forth has a bus stop right outside. About half an hour ride into the centre. butch - 2007-09-09 11:45 AM Or alternatively are there any Motorhome friendly car parks in the middle of Edinburgh ?? None that I know of. On street parking is possible if you can fit into a 5m by 2m bay but, like any city, traffic is busy and buses are much easier. You can get Day Rover tickets for the buses and hop on and off as you like. That's what we did in Edinburgh last year and will do again when we visit in future. Champstar
Edinburgh is a nightmare to drive around in a car let alone a motorhome...I would advise to stay at one of the sites around Edinburgh and get public transport into the city or use park and ride .....most campsites have bus stops near them. bigmoney2
we stayed at Drum Mohr, which is to the east of edinburgh, at Musselbrough. got the bus into the centre each day, it took about 45 mins though, but is 5 mins walk from the site, there is also a train station about 15mins away. Morton Hall campsite also looks convenient and we saw buses going there. The CC site to the north is open all year and handy for the Royal Yacht Brittania. jules
horse444
Morton Hall is a good site for Edinburgh, easy access etc or you could go further out to Peebles.
