Help please-Just a day out somewhere! South East

As a relatively new person to motorhoming we tend to take friends for a day out every now and then, but are having real trouble thinking of places to go that can be easily reached for a day trip! There are obviously campsites all over the place that we can use for parking and picnicking, but they need to be in close proximity to an attraction or town, e.g. Marlow on Thames with the river, etc etc. or Henley so that we can leave the motorhome on site and walk.

 

We live in Hertfordshire, Watford area, and have so far been to Epping Forest (had to stick to wider roads rather than go deeper into the forest) and also Runnymede (nice!) We were able to park right on the grass by the river.

 

Could anyone please help with some ideas? We own a 20 ft Autocruise, dont mind which direction we travel in and would get up early to travel!!

Broxbourne & Dobbs weir just down the road to you is nice .

 

why dont you take yourselves to Norfolk for the day .

North weald market can be a good day out and plenty of room for the camper on the airfield.

Whipps cross you can take a boat around the lake .

Stanstead Airport and watch the planes ???

Sorry cant really think of much in England within a days drive .

Mountfitchet castle but not sure about the camper you would have to phone a check .

What about the New Forest, we took our granddaughter for a day there, she loved the ponies and was over the moon when we cooked a meal in the van for her.

Alderburg I think thats how you spell it on the coast a lovely seaside town walk along the beach and you can buy fresh seafood from the little huts .

I'm still trying to think of more .
