shropshire lad
Has anyone had experience of motorhoming on Islay? Any advice or suggestions welcomed. Thanks
colin
Islay is easy for motorhoming, mostly good roads. We stayed at Kintra campsite, depending on size you should be able to park in dunes. Bowmore is a small town with all facilities, RSPB reserve in NW I think has corncrakes. You can also pop over to Jura, not sure on latest, but there was no official motorhome site but hotel had tent site and you could pay for use of 'bathroom', but be aware crossing from Islay to Jura is weather dependant as large swell can run down Sound of Islay. shropshire lad
Thanks for your reply. Does the site at Kintra still not have chemical disposal available? Is the fresh water supply OK? Is wild camping feasible at all? We have motor homed in the Outer Hebrides and there they encourage wild camping by providing facilities for fresh water and waste disposal.
