Les Sykes
I plan to go to France mid October for a week around in the Alps or Jura area, does any one have and recomendations on sites they have stayed at at this time of year?
catinou
Hi Les, We are going to France & Italy - Alps & Lakes - in September so will have a better idea when we return but we use the sites which accept Camping Cheques - £10-30 per night I think, including 'van, 2 people and electric (low season). If you stay on one site for 7 nights, quite often the 7th will be free. All the sites are inspected and high quality. We certainly found this was the case last year when we travelled to France at the same time of year and got as far as the French / Swiss border near Geneva. We paid under £300 to Camping Cheques this year for a P & O ferry crossing (25' 4" MH plus 12' trailer with Smart Car) plus 15 nights worth of "cheques". Really good value for money and sites are specified in the Camping Cheque site book and on a map of Europe so you know where they are! When we spoke to other motorhome & caravan owners on sites last year, several advised us to get discount for the sites using CC membership - only to find we had paid up to £8 per night less on at least 2 sites!! We are members of the CC so compare costs between the books now.... Just a point - if you look up the sites on the web (any of them can be viewed from the Camping Cheque homepage) check that they are still open in October - some we stayed at close at the end of September! Wherever you stay, have a great time....... Jenny B-)
