Debs753979
I have previously seen advertised a campsite that is on a river. It has huge rock/boulders and there is always people swimming and canoeing. Does anyone have any idea about a site that matches my very vague description? Failing this can anyone recommend a lovely site that has good facilities for children and is within or on a beach. Debs

Minstrel
The ardeche comes to mind, are you thinking of the place with a huge arch of rock over the river?
carioca
sound like gorges du verdon?
Minstrel
Doesn't sound like Gorges de Verdon to me, the river is not for swimming in as there are frequent signs telling you it's dangerous because of the sudden surges of water to power the hydro-electric plants. In that area the place to swim in my opinion is the Lac de St Croix, it's quite warm but a bit muddy on the edges.
