Rhein and moselle

Great area with lots and lots of places to stop.

We've travelled up from Rudesheim to Koblenz (Rhine) and from Koblenz down to Luxembourg (Mosel) and you pass many Stellplatz and camp sites (some of which are weekend getaways with an array of permanently setup caravans).

At this time of the year you wouldn't need to book just slow down and pull in.  If you don't like it go on to the next one.  There is usually one around the next bend in the river.

The camp sites are more obvious than the Stellplatz coz they got signs outside but a good book (CamperStop or Bordatlas) will list where the Stellplatz are and if you're using GPS you can get downloadable POI information but this isn't essential because the sites are quite obvious and are mainly situated on the banks of both rivers.

We were last there two weeks ago and in Koblenz there is a lot of building work going on around the Deutsche Eck with new car parks and pavements being constructed making parking a bit of a lottery for bigger vehicles.

Closest camp site to Koblenz we found was at Winnengen http://mosel-camping.com/anfahrt.htm which was on the banks of the Mosel behind the marina.  Well laid out, good facilities and even their own resturant on site.  This does at a cost though.
