Why not do what many experienced motorhomers do - go on line and buy Brit Stops and get their annual guide to pubs, vineyards, farms and many other places (about 700 at the moment) where you will be welcome to stay completely free. You are invited to buy a Pint and enjoy their facilities, but there is no obligation.
Hundreds of motorhomers move around this way. I reckon to save enough to pay for my diesel on some trips. You can often fill up with water and empty your toilet at many of their stop overs.
Good luck, be brave and get away from expensive campsites.
