Just joined Posts: 6 Location: Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire | I use a Vango Tigris 800 - for when 4 of us go camping. I have now bought a Vango Icarus 400 (to replace the Venture 500) for my daughter (and boyfriend) to use when we all go camping together. Although I have an 8-man tent (the Tigris) we all know deep down that it only really sleeps 4. The Venture 500 (and now the Icarus) was bought for when I go camping on my own or with my small son (come to think of it... I have never actually managed to go alone yet!). I would recommend them both. Well as I've mentioned 3, I should clarify, the Icarus seems to be the same as the Venture but with improvements, ie a built in groundsheet, built in bedroom and a mesh cover over the door for any fly invasion. It also has a new window on one side. Much improved I'd say. Sheila (soon to go to Beddgelert...) ![]()

![]() Just joined Posts: 2 | Sunncamp evolution 600 & Lowland conquest. Evo 6 great tent been used in all weathers, always been sturdy & leak free. supposedly for 6 but only used by two & the dog, so plenty of room. Carpet fitted which is great, never thought i would have a need for slippers on a campsite. Only drawback is that the doors need to be zipped when it rains because there is not a porch style canopy (although an ugly addition is available) & the slope inwards would mean i would end up with a swimming pool. Took it to France for two hot weeks last year no problems. Lots of room main bedroom compartment can easily accomadate two camp beds side by side plus the dogs bed & still leave room to move around. The spaceship shape still draws attention even though it is now four years old. The Lowland is a more specialist tent designed for 4 seasons & ease of use even in the toughest of weather & climates. Very low weight well under 3kg, great for motorcycle trips or hiking, incredibly well made, both inner & outer shells are fully waterproof & setup on my own takes 10 mins top. Only drawbacks are the initial purchase 1st you have to find one (only know of 2 in UK & i own one of them) the 2nd is price, new it was 650 euros. Lowland as a company is now defunct, but i believe it was absorbed by another quality manufacturer who make a very similar high grade tent. Rumours are there is some old lowland stock still available. If you like sleeping in mountains or wild camping try & find one you will not be dissapointed.
