Fiat ducato rear view mirrors folding in wind.
My rear view mirrors have become loose and fold back above 30 mph.
I have searched on internet here and elsewhere for a solution.
Many withsame problems.
Fiat and others advice, no solution, try to wedge.
I drilled a hole in bottom arm support when in correct position and inserted a pin. Great it worked but after being hit became loose and folded the other way when less than 30! So I tied a string so i could pull it back.
REMOVED CASING FROM TOP SUPPORT ARM AND WHAT DO I FIND............
A LOCKING NUT
I have not found any comment from Fiat to indicate this, usual comment: You need torepkace mirrors.

As you rightly say, Ducato mirrors folding back when driving has been a reasonably common complaint in the past. It was discussed here in 2015
and also on other forums.
Where the problem involves the mirrors of mid-2006-onwards Ducato X250/X290 model (You haven’t indicated which Ducato model/motorhome you have) there is a small plastic cover on the underside of the mirror’s bottom ‘arm’ (photo attached below) that permits access to the lower end of the mirror's pivot. It has been reported that playing about with the ‘nut’ on the pivot has sometimes proved effective.

I can confirm that I have this issue on my nearside mirror also! Blooming annoying. I hadn't realised that there is an access cover below the arm as I've got a bit velcro glued across it for my silver-screens!
I was thinking of fitting a stainless self tapper to the stationary part of the housing to act as a stop. Hopefully if I gauge it correctly the mirror will still fold if it hits anything.
