Kate1881
we spent xmas and new year in the Algarve last year. It was wonderful, the weather was perfect and we had a superb 5 weeks. Try Camping ALBUFIERA It does get busy, but we stayed in an apartment opposite and went for a tour around the site in preparation for going in the Motor home next time. BGD
horse444 - 2008-05-28 11:37 AM :-D We spent New Year at Vilanova Park (nr Barcelona 20 mins. by train) they have exc. facilities and you can book New Years Eve Dinner Dance, in thier exc. Suspect you might mean "Camping El Raco".......good place for Brits long-terming, but I think it gets pretty busy at Christmas (as do all the sites along the Costa Blanca), and I don't know any contact details for pre-booking. Barcelona: simply FANTASTIC city in our opinion. Consider also inland Spain......many fantastic unspoilt, un-tourist-overrun towns and villages, and in/around most of them off the coastal "Tourist Trail" there's (at least in our experience, and we live here in Spain) absolutely no reason not to wild camp all the time. vindiboy
Hi Benicarlo Spain is good for Christmas if you want a tradional Christmas meal and usuall Christmas festivities as at home, Camping site name escapes me at the moment but it is the only site at Benicarlo and is run by an ex pat english family ,site is well run and right on the beach. We spent Christmas at Benicassim Spain this year ,Christmas Eve we all were in the bar on the site and had a good knees up singing dancing etc ,food was available if you wanted it.Christmas day we had a street party,American supper type of thing ,centre tables in one of the site streets groaning with food and drink we all provided, help yourself.after that we walked to the beach 100 of us and the hardy fools went in the sea for a dip.The same thing happened New years Eve,all very spontanious really but great fun.We also had fun on Pancake day with Pancake races etc. The site at Benicassim is Camping AZAHAR and the longer you stay there the cheaper it gets IE about £6 a night with electric after 30 nights falling further if you stay longer. Enjoy Christmas whereever you are Cheers Malc :-D
starvin marvin
If you need to ask where to spend Christmas & New Year perhaps you should just stay at home. The suggestions above are all personal. Barcelona! no way, Benicarlo the same, and as for Camping Azahar well you would need your head examining if you chose to stay there. We'll just go somewhere, anywhere to escape the awful weather and grey skies. But make your own choice and do it.
UNITYJAN
Just remember in Spain they celebrate 12th night on 6th January( 5th January is great in the towns with big parades and festivities). Christmas day is not such a big issue with the Spanish, but there are always ex pats around offering good old english brekky and Turkey with all the trimmings!.......Feliz Navidad!!!
