Globecar Trendscout

We have just taken delivery of a new Trendscout, (LWB Transit panel van conversion with rear lounge), and would be interested to hear from any other owners. It's a nice 'van, with one or two peculiarities, which we will need to address.

In particular, the simplified Schaudt control panel seems to require the water pump to be active whenever the 12V system is switched on - there is no separate switch on the panel to turn the pump off. That in turn means that you cannot have any of the systems which need 12V (such as the space heater or fridge or lights) operating with a drained water tank, as the pump will be running on dry and will burn out. No problem at this time of year - carry some water in the tank - but for winter use, the Truma combi boiler has the frost stat and dump valve which gets rid of all water at 3 centigrade. With no water and a pump which can't be de-activated, that apparently means you will have to go home!

The manuals aren't a great deal of help - those which aren't in German contain conflicting advice.

Other oddities include having to grovel up to your armpit in the freshwater tank in order to extract the plug to drain it!

It is nice to know the British aren't the only eccentrics in the motorcaravan world.
