Hope you enjoy your trip, of course it depends on what you want to do in the Dolomites. Siteseeing, walking, touring?

We've had several holidays in the Dolomites over the years, we like a bit of walking, use the push bikes, use cable cars etc and a little hike when up there.

Best route, Calais Luxembourg (cheap fuel), overnight stop at Dahn, then Stuttgart, Kempton, Fern Pass, Innsbruck, Brenner Pass.

We've stayed at various places (usually campsites but not always) but will start in the north at Dobbiaco (northeast of Bolzano) staying at Lago di Dobbiaco. Might need to book at lago di Dobbiaco, only just got in last year in early August. Super site overlooking Lake, good restaurant, wonderful loo block. Good days out to Lago di Braes (good area di sosta),

At Moso, cable car to the Rotwand, good walks, super views, or just sit at cafes with coffee or beer. Walking at Pratto Piazza, gives wonderful views and insight into WW1 fighting here. Good views of Tre Cime across valley. You have got to go to Tre Cime, bus or drive up toll road to Riffugio Auronzo and 5 hour walk to go around Tre Cime, starts off like being in crowds but when you go round the back most of the crowds disappear. Three Riffugios for meals, coffees, rests etc. Huge areea di sosta at Misurina near lake. Valley cycling around Dobbiaco and down to Lienz in Austria, return by train or follow old railway line from Lago do Dobbiaco towards Cortina for fantastic views of Monte Cristallo etc. Lots of valley walks around Dobbiaco to Villabassa etc and good buses to get around on.

Moving onto Cortina d'Ampezzo, good campsites south of town, a short bus ride into town and near enough to walk back. A good place to watch the evening promenade from the open air tables at the restaurants, good but expensive fashion shopping. Must do visit is to Falzarrego, due west of town. Super cable car to Riffugio, upland strolls in the mountains best views of classic Dolomite scenery, sunsets can be stunning, stay at the Riffugio, all sorts of accomodation from big bunk rooms to double rooms.

Continue west over passes to Arabba and Canazei, good campsie at Canezi, cable cars and some good walks. Travel north over passo di Sella to val gardena of Ski Sunday fame. But no camping in the valley but aree di sosta at Plan di Grabba ski station. Three villages in valley, lots of interlinked chair lifts / cable cars lots of walks. Lots of shops in the villages. We stayed at Chius/ Klausen, nice campsite in the main valley.

Will try and upload some photos, send me a message if you want more info
