Boxer Recall

Hopesy

Recommended Posts

Our '57 Boxer went in on Friday for some recall work. Engine software download, main fuse changed, engine cover fitted, (it already had the ABS cover and windscreen motor cover fitted). While in the workshop overnight a pool of oil formed under the drivers side. There was only a small patch on the drive at home which i hadn't noticed before the mechanic phoned me up about it, perhaps because the bricks had soaked up the oil. Anyway a seal on the drive shaft needed replacing and the van's only done about 2000 miles but just awarning for other owners to keep their eye for this problem. mechanic said he hadn't heard of any other failures like this but forewarned and all that.........................

Proboly just a faulty seal, but of cause I'm not noted for looking on the brightside, reading one of the letters in MMM it mentions driveshaft splines and diff bearings badly worn at 1400miles, I'm wondering if this might affect oilseal, something to keep an eye on.
