Don Madge
From the 1st July Slovenia is introducing vignettes for vehicles up to 3500kg using the toll roads. See http://www.cestnina.si/Default.aspx?id=19766 There's no mention of vehicles over 3500kg so one would expect to pay the appropriate fee when using the toll roads see http://www.cestnina.si/Default.aspx?id=197 See also http://tinyurl.com/6qnxgl Info from CC and MHF. Brian G.
Having recently traveled to Croatia via Austria (Salzberg) and Slovenia ,at the price they are charging for the Vignette plus the Austrian one and tunnel tolls I dont think it will be viable to use this route again. brian
Brian Kirby
All very confusing, and Slovenia was very nice in May, so I have e-mailed them for clarification. I had intended to post a suggestion that those looking for somewhere a bit different, might like to visit Slovenia. Beautiful scenery, lots of interest, and friendly, helpful, people who seem to be the best foreign language speakers in Europe! Add to that good roads and excellent signage. Our (unkind) quip while there, was that Slovenia was what you might expect Italy to be like if it were run by the Germans. Neat, tidy, superb climate, no scruffy corners, and everything seemed to work! Now they do this. 35 Euros minimum is hardly an inducement to visit, although it perfectly possible to tour around without using motorways.
