Motorhome Parking - Ross-on-Wye

In the Herefordshire section of MMM's regular "Height Fight" article, motorhome-suitable parking areas at Ross-on-Wye are given as the Homs Rd coach park and Red Meadow car park.

If you are considering visiting Ross in the near future, it's worth being aware that, due to a major flood alleviation scheme being implemented nearby, the Homs Rd coach park is currently best avoided. The coach park has, in fact, been closed to the public for a good few months and, even though it may now be possible to find (limited) space there, it still resembles a heavyweight construction site. It is possible to park for free in Homs Rd itself, opposite the coach park's entrance, but you'd need to be lucky to find room there.

Ross-on-Wye has a particularly 'challenging' one-way system and the best way to locate the parking areas mentioned in MMM is by approaching the town from the west from the roundabout junction of the A49 and A40 dual-carriageway. On entering the town proper, there is a sharp left-hand corner (with a No Entry sign facing you). Turn this corner, continue and take 2nd exit on right (into Kyrle Street), then 1st exit on left into Red Meadow car park by swimming pool. To reach Homs Rd coach park, instead of taking the Kyrle Street exit continue to T-junction at bottom of hill and then turn left. Coach park entrance is about 100m on left.
