Sparky7
do any of you DIY experts know where I can get an integral shower unit, complete with folding door to fit in my motorcaravan bathroom? Does anyone actually make them in GRP? Many thanks in anticipation

Derek Uzzell
Sparky7: Very doubtful that what you want is actually available. The shower compartment on my own Hobby is constructed from components rather then being 'integral', with its walls made from flat plastic sheet and with a separate moulded shower-tray, all bonded together with sealant/adhesive. The bi-fold shower-door is a standard Remis product and the compartment is sized to the door's dimensions. It's likely that the majority (perhaps all) of separate shower compartments are built-up rather than 'one piece', just because it would be a lot easier to do it that way. You might find CAK (www.caktanks.com) helpful as they specialise in leisure-vehicle water systems.

George Collings
Hello Sparky7. I doubt you will find exactly what you are looking for. A folding door is probably the easy bit but take a look at this readers recomendationthat appeared in the March issue of MMM. It is the stuff they spray onto pickup beds. What a shower! Some months ago I read an article in MMM (p220 March 2007) suggesting trying a potential new method of repairing a split shower floor in a 'van. This, according to the article, was a common problem and the current solution seemed to be an expensive replacement of the existing floor. "Try Speedliner," said the article," it looks like it may do the job" (or words to that effect!). Well it did! At a lot less cost and effort than a replacement floor and an improvement on what was there before! I approached Francis at Walkden Group Ltd, explained the problem to him and he thought the job could be done. We also decided to put some expanding foam under the existing floor as it seemed to lack proper support (probably the root cause of the cracks anyway). We now have a fully serviceable shower, a leak-proof shower floor (with added grit to make it non-slip) and the colour blends in with the rest of the bathroom floor. So it's thanks to MMM for the suggestion and thanks to Francis for a job well done and for all his help in solving the problem. Francis can be contacted on 01204 371116 or info@walkdengroup.co.uk, but there may be more local Speedliner agents than Bolton (see speedlinereuro.com) Other readers with similar problems may be interested in trying this solution as it does away with the need for a replacement floor and the associated time and cost that would entail. Best of luck
