ROON Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 I know this is probably somewhere on the site but my search engine is moody to say the least. I just had to replace a hallogen bulb in the little round ceiling light in the van, and I couldn't get the steel circle off to do so. I couldn't get my fingernails under it, I couldn't fit a bank card under it, a screwdrive didn't fit, and in the end I used a flat knife which, although only very slightly, damaged the wood surrounding it so I don't want to try that again. I looked at all the others then in case it was just this one that was clamped so tightly to the ceiling but it wasn't on its own. I know it is only minor compared to the other problems with wheels, batteries and windows, etc., but is there a simple answer staring me in the face to keep my blood pressure from soaring next time. joy
Geoff Cole Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Hi Joy, Sorry to hear you are still having a few problems with your van. If your ceiling lamps takes the MR16 type halogen lamp then you don't need to remove the fittings and break your nails. The easy way is to put a rubber sucker on the lamp glass and just pull it out. There is usually one in the box with the fitting. I have a few of these spare from the last ones I fitted if you can't get one let me know and I will send one to you. Regards Geoff
ROON Posted July 21, 2008 Author Posted July 21, 2008 oh Thanks Geoff. Van not outside at the moment but I'll check on the type tomorrow. Does the sucker look like one of those 'nippley type things'? If so, I did find one in the van and thought it was a sucker for hanging scizzors on or a cooking utensil.... duh! I stuck it on the glass worktop underneath so it was handy when I lift it up!!! I'll check it out and if I have got it wrong I'll be ever so grateful for you to send me one. Thank you. Talk tomorrow. Joy :$
Geoff Cole Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Hi Joy, You seem to have found it, its usually a little black sucker with a T shaped handle on it. In fact a suction cup on a hook or an arrow with a sucker on it will work just as well. Let me know if you want one of my spare ones Hope you have more luck with your van now. Good Luck Regards Geoff
Guest peter Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 The ring on my lights is removed by turning it until slots line up.
