mark w Posted July 23, 2008 Share Posted July 23, 2008 Hi all fellow travellers. Just wanted to make you aware of the terrible S 790 we have just purchased in June 2008. We are on our11th Hymer after hundreds of thousands of miles in Europe over twenty years so no virgins! Collected car two months late from German dealer where we always buy, to be fair they they are a good dealer. Faults: Both doors fell to bits internally, wife stuck in camper in France.Two day trip to dealer who did not have the parts Hymer promised they have sent UPS so a plastic fix was used, dealer stated Hymer have no parts for the S class to supply dealers. Diff whining badly Air suspension leaking Drivers door hits mirror when opened Light switches hit and miss, none straight, Inverter wired by Hyer fed all appliances inc electric heating, fridge etc Wrong coloured door item holders meant to match upholstery Aircon vents not even installed Auto lock fridge not locking (now they have made it manual!) Front seat area heater matrix so sharp it cut my wifes leg. Various cupboards wont open. So, at our expense back to Hymer for one month, collected last week, most faults unrepaired, other Hymer S790's there with issues, Hymer staff stated they have a 2009 mod for the door hitting the mirror in 2009 and to get it painted! Door still wont open without four pulls on the handle (risk?) So friends, please check the Hymer quality before you buy, ours.. rejected, German lawyers instructed and no camper for a while.
