Clive Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Totally agree!. Very roughly take the weight of the scooter, add the weight of the rack and double the total. This is the likely increase in rear axle loading. C.
John.N Posted July 26, 2008 Author Posted July 26, 2008 Sorry my finger slipped! Can anyone give me an idea of the cost of supply and fitting a rack for a Honda C90 to an Autosleeper Legend? Any recommendations of dealers/fitters in the South West would be appreciated.
John.N Posted July 26, 2008 Author Posted July 26, 2008 Clive's reply seems to have been posted to the wrong thread

rupert123 Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 John.N - 2008-07-26 4:53 PM Sorry my finger slipped! Can anyone give me an idea of the cost of supply and fitting a rack for a Honda C90 to an Autosleeper Legend? Any recommendations of dealers/fitters in the South West would be appreciated. I have recently done this for the second time. My current setup is for the Honda Innovation which I believe is the same as C90. My total cost was £808. This was £250 for the rack, Watling Tow bars, and the rest for the making up and fitting of the towbar by Coastal towbars of Rhyl. If you telephone Watling they will probably give you a recommended towbar fitter in your area, they did for me. The cost of fitting will depend on your van chassis, the most important bit is does it go right to the rear of your van, if not they have to strengthen this and it will add to cost. If you want any more information please ask, you can work out what the axle loads will be pretty acurately but it will require two visits to weighbridge, one before you fit to check if all is going to be within load limits and one after with scooter loaded to double check your calculations.
John.N Posted July 27, 2008 Author Posted July 27, 2008 Many thanks for your informative message Rupert.
Clive Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 Newark vehicle bodies did this for me. Extended chassis and made and fitted rack for two little motorbikes. Yes, I was jumping the gun!!
Mike B. Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 Hi Try Armitage Trailers in Ferrybridge-ask for Wayne. www.armitagetrailers.com 0845 194 3701 They've done all my scooter racks, towbars, garage 'Scooter shoe' and hooks and offer a bespoke service with a Witter or similar towbar specialising in Motorhomes. If you ring them they will give you a guide price over the phone, book it in, confirm price on examination and fit it while you wait if you are happy with the price. If you existing chassis is not as good as it should be they will still do it for you by extending the chassis for you. All this is at a reasonable cost also. These are the best for me Mike
