AnnPaul
Off to Croatia next Sunday for rour weeks, we understand that wild camping is not allowed. If this correct or has someone has recently visited there and found places where it is tolerated? We hope to visit some of the many islands in that country is wild camping tolerated on them? AndyStothert
We've just come back and we didn't see a single van wild camping on the coastal strip or the islands. The sites are numerous and there is a good variety of both large and small sites. A fabulous place.
Charles Chodkowski
We spent six weeks in Croatia last September/October. A super place to visit, lots of small very reasonably priced small and large campsite something for everyone! Wild camping is not allowed and police are on the look out for it - no one does it not even the Germans and there are lots of them visiting. malc d
One thing I would suggest is that you should be wary of taking 'short cuts' in Croatia unless you have a very good map. We visited the Plitvice Lakes ( well worth it ) and then tried to take some minor roads back to the Istrian coast. (They looked like what we would call 'B' roads on the map ). We ended up on what can only be described as bridle paths, single track, with very few oppurtunities to turn around. We wasted a couple of hours on that, retracing our route then taking a main road. Have a good trip.
Curly
Hi just come back from 8 weeks in Croatia, no wild camping allowed, beautiful will go back. There are lots of Auto-Camps from as little as 8-20 euros per camper plus local taxes, right on the edge of the coast and I mean right on the edge with some great cycling routes to the local vilages etc. People are friendly and always ready to help. Would recommend Auto-Camo CISTE, every Friday night free fish supper at their local bar. It also has a naturist beach which are mostly peables. DonB
We also would thoroughly recommend Croatia, beautiful scenery, friendly people. We have also stayed at Autocamp Ciste. Excellent family-run site, very good toilet block, small private beach. And yes, free fish supper on Fridays! It's on the coast side of the road between Drvenik and Zivogosce. There are two campsites right next to each other with similar names. The above is on the left as you look at them. You can see right down the camp road so you know you wont get stuck down there!
