Hi.....I'm after some help please....Ive been looking for a washing up drainer that channels the drips into the sink rather than onto the worksurface that the sink sits in as it has a lip stopping this....Ive seen other Motorhomes with the same set up as me also ...but have seen some new Motor homes with home style sink units that address this problem...Is there any websites with online shops that anyone can recommend....Many thanks ...Andy

We use a tray as our drainer, find one with high sides and you can tip the excess water away. We then leave ours on top of the work top with some that plastic /rubber stuff and stops it from sliding when on our travells.

Sorry Afandy!

My broadband connection was playing up and wouldn't let me post properly so I just did a test one to see if it was working at all with a view to editing it with the real message, then it wouldn't let me do any more! Here's what I was going to say:

You can get square type board drainers of the sort you are after, but they tend to be quite large as they are meant for normal home use. There are some of the circular ones that are used in motorhomes but they aren't cheap, you'd probably be able to get one from one of the normal motorhome parts dealers.

We use an old 'Nescafe' tray - the ones where you had to collect loads of labels of jars and send them in for coffee mugs, tea-towels etc ... yes I know, it was yonks ago! We found this is just right for placing a small wire type rack on (it's 1960s vintage!), it's the type with the plate slots plus a flat area for cups etc, but any sore of rack will do so long as it fits on the tray. Have a look in some of the £1 shops, A-Z etc, as they tend to do a variety of small draining racks very cheaply or alternatively you'll be able to pick something up at car boot sales, charity shops etc. We found that using a tray is the best bet as, once you've washed up, if you need to move it - eg if you put the tray on top of your cooker while washing up then find you want to use the hob - you can simply lift it and move the whole lot without dripping water everywhere. The tray also comes in handy if you're doing a messy job, like jointing a chicken, cleaning fish etc, as it keeps everything in one spot and can be easily taken outside for a rinse, much easier than trying to wash down the worktop and stop water etc dripping off the edge!

The tray and rack then nicely store in the side of the wardrobe plus the tray is then available to be used ... as a tray! :->

Be careful of the Bettaware and Kleeneze catalogues ... they're addictive and you'll spend loads more than you mean to! :D

Some years ago was looking at the first van I saw with no drainer I think it was a Hymer, commented on lack of drainer and owner pulled a purpose made drainer out of cupboard that had lip that overhung sink, so they are out there. If you are looking to mod layout to add sink with drainer then CAK tanks or similier companies have them.

I bought one from Lidl a couple of months ago. It's a conventional drainer with a tray that clips onto the bottom. It was one of their specials at the time but it may be worth having a shuftie to see if they have any left. I think it was only about £3.00 when I bought it and it fits perfectly between the taps, the hob and the wall of the van so there's need to worry about it sliding about.

I had the same problem and found the "Plastic Dish Drainer" from Lakeland (£6.99) (ref. 21415) to work exactly as you requested.

It is light weight and will hold china plates upright easily.

Our tray / drainer came with the motorhome but to improve matters we purchased the folding drainer rack from Interstore or Poundstretchers as it is known for about £4 and with a little modification it is one of the best aids for the kitchen area we have bought.
