Portsmouth ferries

Following my posting last May, I would like to report that the £180 return ferry crossing offered (Sundays only) by Condor Ferries from Portmouth to Cherbourg is a very acceptable deal. Some £200 less than Brittany were asking for my Swift Ace Airstream 680FB (about two full tanks of diesel) , this service is slightly slower, there is only one (self service) restaurant, the shop is limited, BUT we got there and back in perfect comfort. What more could you ask? It is only available from May to September, I understand, but given the cost of driving to Dover and the onward journey from Calais, anyone heading to South, South West, Western or North Western France should take a serious look.

By the way, if you're heading back to the ferry terminal in Cherbourg and fancy going in through the city centre don't be fooled by the signs. They're all still pointing to the old terminal and will lead you astray.

Cheers
