John Francis Ware Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Is there any way to prevent the radio in a 2008 Autocruise from switching off after 20 minutes? Have had conflicting advice. Some say switching the ignition feed with a live feed, will do the trick, but others maintain there is something in the radio itself to prevent this. How would the radio differentiate between an ignition and live feed? (?) (?)
Derek Uzzell Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 John: If you click on the following link to an earlier forum thread, it should help with your questions: http://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=6634&posts=30 Otherwise, you might try sending a Private Message (PM) to Dave Newell (who comments in the thread) as he performs corrective surgery regularly on these radio systems.
John Francis Ware Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 Thanks for the tip, but all the radios referred to do not refer to the new Peugeot radios, which I am told cannot be altered, unless somebody knows better.
Derek Uzzell Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 John: If you've been told by someone who knows what he/she is talking about that it's impossible to extend/disable the current Boxer radio's cut-off period, then I guess that's that. (Funny that the period is set so short as standard - my Transit's radio shuts down after 60 minutes, which makes better sense.) There is a 'Peugeot radio' thread on the MHF forum: http://www.motorhomefacts.com/ftopic-32156-days0-orderasc-0.html that includes the statement "Our CD/radio turns off after 20 minutes, by design. I can change it in the menu. It's a 2007/8 Boxer. The menu is a separate dashboard button, quite easy to do, from memory." Not sure if that's any help. Did you try contacting Dave Newell (I think he's on holiday at the moment) as I'm sure he remains your best bet for informed advice?
Dave Newell Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 To the best of my knowledge the only way to solve the 20 minute cutoff on 07/08 ducatos with the standard fitment radio is to replace the radio entirely. My mod for the earlier ducato/boxer radio does not work on the newer versions because the radio is connected to the CanBus wiring and takes its "on" trigger from there. Of course if you replace the radio you will almost certainly lose the steering wheel remote control functions. D.
djchapple Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 I have a 2008 Devon Monaco based on the 2007 Renault Master and the radio also cuts out after about 20 mins. Any mods to overcome this?
