AnnPaul Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Have a Rapido 7078F . Have not used it for a couple of months, so emptied all water out to give the fresh water tank a good clean. Have now filled the tank up but cannot get rid the "spluttering", no nice flow as normal from all the taps. I know there must be a airlock some where but how do I get rid of it? As it now Saturday afternoon and we are packing to leave for Calais on Monday (off to Coatia) sailing on Tuesday morning. I need to sort this out urgently, I know some one will have the answer PLEASE.
Hymer C 9. Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Just asked Husband he says try turning on kitchen & bathroom tap on hot setting and let the run for a minute or two and spluttering should stop otherwise if this does not work could be something come loose. Carol.
JohnP Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 It may take a while to disappear. I always prime the cold water taps first, get a good flow and then prime the hot. The hot tap has to fill the water heater before you get a consistent flow from the hot taps. Also check that a drain valve has not been left open by mistake. There may be more than one drain poin in your van.
Den Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 I do the same as above and on our levoyageur , it can take ages. To the point i need to take on more water. If you have a outside shower, make sure you also bleed this. And its worthwhile opening all the taps at the same time incl' the showers. PS enjoy your holiday dennis
ColinC Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Hi AnnPaul Had similar problem sometimes on our Rapido 749M. I don't know if your drain valve is the same, but here goes. On ours the drains for both fresh and hot water tanks involved pulling up a little lever which lifted a plunger in the valve. The plunger was spring loaded so that when the lever was depressed the plunger automatically went back down. However occassionally after a period without use the plunger didn't go fully home. this resulted in a small amount of air being sucked in when operating the pump and the spluttering at the taps. If yours is the same mechanism try small squirt of WD40 and then work the plunger up and down a few times. Colin
Ranger Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Daft question AnnPaul, but is your 'van parked level? Had one 'van backalong that took 'ages' to bleed off the air from the hot taps if the thing was not level..........
AnnPaul Posted August 2, 2008 Author Posted August 2, 2008 PANIC OVER!!!!! After three hours of going through everthing ten times over. Found that the drain valve under the kitchen was not closed properly, hence the air getting in. Who is a walley, I am a walley. Thanks everybody We can now head for Croatia on Tuesday morning. :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$ :$
