BarnacleBob Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 I am considering having the ECU in my Fiat Ducato 2.8JTD remapped to improve low speed torque and fuel consumption. If anyone has had this done I would be pleased to hear their views on the results. Thanks.
Mel E Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Bob, I suggest you search the forum archives as the topic has been covered quite recently in some depth. In summary, re-mapping will give you more torque (and hp) but don't expect to get any magical increase in mpg. This is partly because, whether you intend to or not, you WILL make use of the increased engine flexibility, especially on up-down hills where the need for frequent gear changes virtually disappears. After doing this to two motorhomes, we have found driving is much more relaxed, but mpg is improved only a tad at best. Mel E ====
