david lloyd
Hi Peter Your motorhome will have a metal plate fitted - usually under the bonnet but sometimes inside the driver's door - with the Gross Vehicle Weight (MAM), Gross Train Weight and Axle Wieghts stamped on it. The MAM will be the first figure shown. David

MelvynT
Funny how you your perceptions are coloured by other peoples thoughts. Check the posted comments about Swansea. I bought a privately converted panel van, still registered as a panel van. I changed the VED through Swansea no problem what so ever. I sent them a letter, they replied with what information they needed, I returned this to them and mine got sorted straightaway. On the subject of emmissions, all vehicles are measured as part of the MOT, it would not take a great deal of effort to connect the reported levels to the following years VED duty, don't maintain you engine and you pay for the emmissions, maintain it and you pay the base rate. Of course, as engines get cleaner by design, how then will the chancellor raise enough money, why they'll put the VED rates up. Base rate charging makes no sense for emmission control. Motorhomes typically run 3 to 5K Miles a year, the total emmission will be significantly less than a high mileage car or van.
