We had a lovely time on continent visiting several countries but went to S.Holland near Breskens for the last 3 days. BRILLIANT. Super campsite.Loads around though to suit most tastes. Ours was near the beach with one beach being naturist. The facilities for children were excellent. I note this although ours are well grown. We had a free bus pass to use for our stay that covers upto 2 adults 4 children and the dog!! Foe the teens there is something called the DISCO bus.It costs a bargain 5 euros, collects the little darlings, takes them into whereever the discos are leaves them to do whatever it is they want (best not ask!) and delivers them back at the end of the night!Loads of wonderful bike paths for cycling enthusiasts. We shall definately be back

Hi

We camped near Breskens last year on our way back from Denmark. We liked the area very much, especially the provision for cyclists. We too will be back, but are venturing further afield whilst we are still fit enough to drive the longer distances.

Your post brought back some happy memories.

Joyce

PS: having seen the provision for cyclists in Netherlands and Denmark can only wonder that our Govt dare to recommend that we should cycle on our lethal road system.

Dave

In early April this year, we stayed on Camping de Oase, in Renesse.

Weblink: http://www.campingdeoase.nl/en/

There we also got a free bus pass, it is only valid on that particular island though (Schouwen Duiveland) which isn't very big. The toiletblock on that site was one of the best we'd ever come across, heated (which was welcome as it was quite cold when we were there, remember Easter?), very clean, spacious showers. Cycling is obviously excellent, goes without saying. A short walk into the village, which has 1 very good Chinese restaurant, didn't try the other one. Small C1000 supermarket and a selection of other shops.

It is an ACSI site and we paid 14 Euros a night, they accept ACSI again from 23 August according to the guide.

The year before we stayed on Camping Middelburg, on the outskirts of Middelburg. No free bus pass there, the site was ok, but the toiletblock somewhat tired. But a good base for visiting Middelburg which is a lovely town, beautiful square with Townhall.

Ina.

Dave,

We stayed at Camping Schoeneveld in Breskens in late April this year and can recommend it. (www.zeelandnet.nl/schoneveld, 0117 383220) It's big and busy - which we normally avoid - but the facilities are very good, excellent English is spoken and you can get a pitch near the beach and coastal cycle path. (Steep steps/ramp up the dyke though!) In April it was Euros 43.20 for 2 nights for two people with hook up.

The walk/cycle to Breskens port is pleasant with sea and beach views, then takes you through the port which is a little industrial but interesting to see the boats come and go . There is an excellent fresh fish shop on the quayside which is worth a visit every morning for a superb choice of just caught, fresh fish and there is a good yacht chandler, Kostens Watersport, to browse around for bits and pieces.

There are miles of coastal walks along the dyke in the other direction too, we ran out of puff before the path ended. Again good views to sea and inland from the dyke.

Bob
