Ile de Re, La Rochelle please

Hi peeps

 

Can anyone offer suggestions on sites in the above areas please, open 2nd week in Sept for one week

We stayed on a municipal site called Le Bois d'amour in Le Bois Plage, Ile de Re. It was fine. Just behind a huge sandbank with path to beach. But they close between 1 and 3 pm as usual, so time your arrival. Easy walk to town about 10 minutes where they have a good indoor/outdoor market.

 

In La Rochelle we stayed at the Harbour. It is a car park but there were lots of 'vans there and some had been there a couple of weeks. All free. A little ferry takes you across to the town.

 

If you cycle Ile de Re is the place to go. Lots of cycle ways and pretty flat. We cycled from Le Bois to St Martin and La Flotte with ease on our fold up bikes.

We have just come back and stayed at the municipal at Marans just outside La rochelle, we love it there it was our second time, out door pool, large pitches, cost E37.50 for 3 of us for 2 nights with 1 adult 1 child swimming pass for a day.

Maybe I'm too late with the reply but someone else might read it! I have stayed in the site in Marans and agree it is very good - nice town as well on a canal.

 

I also love the municipal site in Le Bois en Plage on Ile re Re - great location on the beach and near town also. I stayed there last September and arrived on a day that the office was closed - Tuesday I think. I went on to St Martin de Re. there is another very good municipal site there just on the edge of the town.
