Good morning.

My wife and I are travelling over to France next Week and would like to know if there are any small sites or aires on the Belguim side of Calais which are suitable for a stay of two nights and com recommended by members of this forum. Thanks in anticipation I am told that this is a better forum to get an answer than sites speak.

Hi Dave,

Ypres is worth a visit, and there is a campsite there handy for the town shops etc unfortunately their website is down so there may be a problem there

http://www.jeugdstadion.be/index_english.htm

we used to stay at the municipal site at Mons but we went last year and it was looking vry run down and generally unloved

Brugge is a great spot and has both campsites and a new aire the latter has been well reported on here.

They are all Belgium of course - we tend not to stay much in that part of France. But I can recommend the beer and the chocolate :->

B-)

I've no personal experience of the area near Calais, but you might try Camping Clairette at Oye Plage about 10km east of Calais. See:

This is (apparently) one of 3 campsites at Oye Plage, seems to be open all-year-round and has received good reviews from motorcaravanners. See:

http://campingcar-infos.com/index1.htm

The latter website carries details of a few French aires de camping-car in Departement 59 (Nord), but (as far as I can see) the only one on the Belgium side of Calais that looks much good is at Hondschoote about 15km east-by-south of Dunkerque.

Besides information on aires/parking in France, the website has Belgium-related information and I note that campsites at De Panne and Nieuwpoort are mentioned.
