Recommended Posts

I am considering touring Canada next year for 6 months is there anyone out there that has done it or has some information for this kind of venture not the actual travel but the type of freight, insurance (vehicle and personnel), and any details of customs and necessary paper work.

What I have been able to find out is that it is not possible to travel with the vehicle although I was told that people have done it from Rotterdam but the departure point does not appeal to me.

We are off Friday 5th Sept. for 5 weeks across the water so will not be able to receive any of your info. till I get back so am looking forward to masses of gen. was going to tour (for the first time) the U.K. but with the weather as it is we are going to take our chance further south.

*-) :-(

Germans do this all the time. you would have to ship from Holland/Germany anyway I think....

its normal to ship van and to fly yourselves, its a long commercial sea crossing not a cruise *-)

When in Europe pick up copys of Geman Motorhome magazines, Promobil etc...you will probably see adverts offering shipping services or look on their web sites or german forums (using auto translator :-D ) Or look on the wonder web its all out there!

Hi Judge I do not want to ship out of the U.K. unless it is really financially beneficial, you can ship from Liverpool and/or Southampton.

And yes we would fly out later as it can be 10 to 15 days freight time depending on the freight company.

I've done it in reverse several times, although mine have always fit in a container (see my travel page, esp. the shipping one : http://travel.jeffersoncampervan.com/shipping.htm )

There's a link to Seabridge ( http://www.seabrdge.com/services/carshipping.asp ) , which handles this from the USA & Canada, but maybe in reverse as well.

A German service . also called Seabridge is at http://www.seabridge-tours.de/

Good Luck!
