Mike Roberts
Hi all. With rising fuel costs affecting how far some of you travel, we want to ask you to help each other by naming some of the cheapest fuel outlets in the country. Many of you all live in different parts of Britain so why not let other forum users know where they can fill up for less in your area. It’s widely known that to reduce fuel costs you need to go off track and avoid motorway service stations but where in your area would you recommend? You can be as basic or as detailed as you like. A simple road and town name should suffice but if you know sat nav coordinates then use them too. For ease of use maybe start with the county name so people can immediately see if it’s relevant to them. With fuel prices constantly changing, updates can be posted as often as you like: daily, weekly, monthly it doesn’t matter. Together, in this dedicated forum section, I think we can create a comprehensive list of the cheapest fuel stations the length and breadth of Britain. Which can only be a good thing. Right, who’s first?! Mike Online Editor

ROON
Hi Mike, that was a good idea. ... I see the site recommended takes a lot of work out of it for us. (Sorry can't view the posting so will have to go back to see who the kind person was) Have added it to my favourites. Thanks for that. Guest Tracker
Asda are hard to beat pricewise, and if you have an Asda credit card you get 2p a litre off all fuel purchases. In towns where there is an Asda the other supermarkets and filling stations nearby seem to 'adjust' their price to compete. Not that there is a cartel amongst the other supermarkets and multi national oil companies of course!
pamwinst
Tesco are doing '5p off a litre' voucher when you spend £50 on grocery etc shopping so find a Tesco near an Asda to get the best saving.
Guest Tracker
Being a couple we never spend £50 in one go and this attitude by Tesco is, in my view, a positive discrimination against single people, couples who do not need to spend £50 at a time and and those on low incomes who can't afford to spend £50 in one go. So we just don't shop for anything at Tesco anymore! They could easily have let us keep our receipts to accumulate £50 and then allow us the discount as a loyalty bonus, but as they don't seem to need us we in turn certainly don't need Tesco. Basil
Waitrose undercut everyone in our area at the momemt £1.069/ litre so I have been using them (as it appears is everyone else by the queues!). Tesco have just undercut the Waitrose price with the 0.5p/litre off deal by 0.01p, which IMO is very reasonable and a justified perk for those that spend a lot of money with them it's not hard to spend £50 and we are only a couple our daughter buys her own things, which makes them marginally cheaper plus the 'Clubcard' points, but I will save the vouchers until I have to use them (date wise) and continue to support Waitrose at present. BGD
Here in Spain, prices have fallen quite a bit in the past couple of months, from their peak in late Spring. Locally, in the Costa Blanca region, diesel is about 1.14 euros per litre at the moment. :-D (Generally, same rules apply over here as in the UK: unless you want to pay stupid money, don't ever fill up at a motorway service area. Instead take any exit towards any local town/village and fill up at the nearest off-motorway petrol station)
Patricia
About 1.29 euros in France last week and 1.39 on autoroutes. In England have found Morrisons at 1.209 the cheapest since my return.
horse444
:$ for the first time ever on our juants, we were shocked at the price of fuel in France, and did go of the auto route for fuel, by the way BGD did try to locate you, when we were in Finestrat (returned last Friday). as we were looking for some information, re purchase & site for caravan for six months in the area, but think we have now decided on L'Raco, maybe meet sometime. :->
dream machine
petrolprices.com is a very useful website without a doubt BUT BE AWARE the Supermarkets (Tesco anyway) have figured out that they can use this (and other similiar websites) to their own advantage. I get regular weekly emails automatically from them - several times over recent weeks I've found that the quoted lowest price (in my area) has been Tesco but low & behold when I've gone there within the next day or two only to find that mysteriously the price has gone back up again ! ! What tesco have figured is if they inform the site that their fuel price has gone down then they get quoted as the lowest price then everybody obviously goes to them for their petrol / diesel - however if they put it back up again the very next day MOST people don't even cotton on ! Clever - eh. ! Those that do realise it - still end up buying their petrol there as they are already in the queque rather than go off looking for cheaper elsewhere! Tesco are never slow on missing a trick gaining an advantage. In My area the only place for cheap petrol I can count on is Morrisons. Remember that Supermarkets use the size & clout to convince us that they are the cheapest BUT that ain't always the case (truth) ;-) So although the website is still useful - you still need to check for your self as what the current price really is. niton
We have recently returned from France and while we there we noticed prices were falling for Diesel. The lowest price we paid was at Auchan near Dunkirk 1.09€ per litre. Generally in France it is around 1.20€ per litre. Peter
spospe
Cheapest we saw was in Luxembourg on 30 October at €0.999 per litre.
bob b
I passed a Shell garage this afternoon selling unleaded at 93.9p a litre. I was actually on my way to Tesco to fill the car.On arrival, I found that Tesco was 94.9p a litre ! Of course, I filled the car at Tesco and then crawled along in traffic to exit......shan't make that mistake again !

catinou
Asda always seems a safe bet in our area - just reduced from 92.9p per litre for petrol to 90.9p (the day after I filled my car of course!) If you use the Asda credit card you get an immediate reduction of 2p per litre at whatever price - petrol or diesel - really worth having when filling up the MH - as long as you clear the account each month of course. ;-)
BGD
Uleaded 95 octane now down to 90.4 cents per litre this afternoon in La Nucia (close to Benidorm, Costa Blanca), Spain. :-D
BGD
The rapid fall in the pice of road fuel in Spain continues: Unleaded, 95 octane, is 85.9 cents per litre here on the Costa Blanca today, and diesel is 87 cents.
