Patricia
Perhpas this is the news to which Randonneur was refering? In this morning's newspaper it says that there is a strike by Calais and Boulogne dock workers which has cancelled all ferries for 24 hours. Apparently they are striking because the tunnel will not be fully operational until February. Quote: "Motorists were warned to expect serious freight and traffic delays in Kent with the strike bringing the M20 coast-bound route to a standstill. There were also large tailbacks on the A1 leading out of Calais. An estimated 3,000 Britons were caught up in the industrial action in France, with thousands more affected on the Dover side of the Channel. A spokesman for the harbour authority in Calais said: ‘We have no control over this kind of union activism.’ "

catinou
Apparently this is due to the usual French attitude to the news that the tunnel won't be up and running "normally" until February next year.... *-)
