telford

Hi Gaz, Telford is a great venue for a short visit (or a longer one if you prefer (lol) ) with plenty to see and do. There is only one commercial campsite of any note in Telford and that is Severn Gorge http://www.severngorgepark.co.uk/

.

Its not cheap at around £20 a night but it is convenient (400 yards from my workshop ;-) ) and on a main bus route (buses every 12 minutes) as well as less than half a mile from the Silkin way which is a footpath/cycle track completely separate from the road network which runs for 17 miles across Telford, north to south.

As one who enjoys walking I'd suggest you check out the South Telford Heritage trail website www.walktelfordheritage.co.uk .

Is there anything particular you're coming to Telford for or is it just a visit? You can always ring me for more info on things to see and do, we could even meet up for a pint or three :D .

Hi Gaz, I've checked and the Ironbridge bus doesn't go past the campsite at anything like a sensible time or frequency I'm afraid. Mind you Ironbridge is only 2.5 miles away and not a particularly stressful walk. The south telford heritage trail goes from here down Blists hill (past the open air Victorian town museum) to Coalport and from there its a fairly easy walk to the Ironbridge (lots of pubs along the way too *-) )

Give me a call, D.

Years ago there used to be a Pay & Display car park right near the Ironbridge, which my old Glendale went into with no problem.

Is that still there Dave? If so it might be easier than leaving the van out at the campsite, as it'd also be available for refreshments.

Gaz could take you to his van for a sarnie after that pint!

Hi Tony, yes there is still the pay and display next to the museum of the river on the wharfage. There is also a park and ride car park at the top of Legges way (Blists hill) which is about 3/4 mile from the caravan site. Its worth mentioning that there are also several CS/CL sites in the area if you are a member of either of the big clubs.
