Guest JudgeMental
I believe you will need a Satellite system or internet to get radio 4 in Europe....... World service shortwave broadcasting finished last year *-)
Randonneur
We can get Radio 4 on our car radio and on our previous motorhome radio but we cannot get it with the radio in our new van. We are in South West France. I think it has something to do with the aerial. We are able to get Radio 4 as far down as Bordeaux but can't remember if we got it in Spain, sorry. Andy_C
You can get R4 on 198 Long Wave in quite a bit of Europe, in fact we managed to receive it occasionally even as far south as Essouira in Morocco! I don't have a recommendation for a good portable radio, but make sure you get one with an external aerial, you can improve LW reception by extending the aerial with a long piece of wire attached to it with a crocodile clip. However for reliable reception you will need a satellite system, it needn't be a Sky box, most of the BBC radio output is broadcast Free to Air on Astra 2A South Beam. Peter Highe
Hi You might also like to consider listening on the internet (if you have access of course) - You can also listen when you want. I think it is called time shifting but that seems abit Dr Who to me! Peter
