naittaw
Can anyone advise of a Fridge (electrolux) problem on my Autosleeper Ravenna. It works ok on electricity both 12 and 250 volt, but if I want to use it on gas then when I switch on the igniter and turn on the gas, holding the knob in, it lights i.e. I hear a pop and the igniter stops flashing, but when I release the knob the gas goes out and the igniter again flashes. I have had it in for investigation/repair and was told 1. that there was a lot of moisture in the compartment - in fact because the van had been parked next to the power washer area ! 2. that there had been some "carbon flakes" possibly obstructing the system. When I collected the van the fridge was working on gas and ignited OK. However the problem has now recurred - only weeks later. Advice would be much appreciated. Itexuk
Try holding the knob in longer, mine takes about 20 / 30 secs before the gas will stay a light.
Andy_C
I suspect that there could be some dirt/corrosion in the heating tube. If this gets dislodged it falls onto the burner causing the symptoms you describe. I wonder if the original fault was fixed by just cleaning the burner? The heating tube should have been cleaned as well, if there is still dirt or corrosion present the same fault will recur. There is a special wire brush for cleaning the tube. naittaw
Thanks to both itexuk and Andy. I've tried holding the knob in for +30 secs but that doesn't work. Your diagnosis, Andy, sounds likely and gives me something to go on. Thanks.
davenewellhome
There are two possibilities that spring to mind, one is the thermocouple may have given up the ghost but more likely is a poor electrical connection inside the rear of the gas valve where the thermocouple connects. I did one recently and having replaced the thermocouple the fault was still there. Several hours later after stripping the rear of the gas valve assembly I found a dirty connection from the thermocouple link. Once cleaned up it now works perfectly. D.
