John H
Hi Les, I haven't stayed on any of these so I can't recommend them but at least they are in the area you want to go. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/resultsall.asp?county=Rutland John. tof
Hi Scottle We stayed at the yacht club campsite right on the water. It was open to all, very friendly and cheap. Not sure if open all year and quite grassy so may not be appropriate. Just a thought. Tof
MandyAndy
We have been to Lyndon Tops a few times, views are wonderful and not much chance of flooding as the name suggests you are up above the water looking down over it. About a 5 minute down hill walk to the edge of the water, bird hides and walk/cycle path around edge of lake. CC&C had loads of rallys up there, our last one with them had around 200 vans on their regional meet. Not alot of facilities that I remember but we have always been on the Rally Fields, 12 of them. Don't know opening times but could find out if you can't , we are around half hour from there. Mandy
Guest peter
Been to Greetham site and found it to be very good. Not far from R/Water.
niton
We stayed at Rutland Water Campsite behind the sailing club. Ok when field is dry. Open mid March to October only. £5 per night. www.rutlandwatercampsite.co.uk for information and directions. Peter.

carolh
Lyndon Top is an excellent place to stay, certainly will never be flooded, might be a bit exposed in strong winds though. Only minimum facility site, man comes round each day to collect the pitch fee. Stayed at Greetham a few years ago, nice and quiet when we were there but it's next to the RAF Cottismore, but there is a high earth bank between the campsite and the noisy aeroplanes!! SAS
Lyndon Top is within the `grounds` of Rutland Water but it`s only got a tap and emptying facilities. I think you just have to phone up and park up and as Carolh said someone will collect the fee. If you need a shower you could always go to the Stamford Leisure centre but you`ll have to pay for a swim. Why not go into Stamford anyway? It`s well worth a visit and Friday is the best day because it`s market day.
