Daily Rant

Something to get off your chest? This is the place.

I'll start:

Yesterday, in my new role as volunteer car driver, I was asked to pick a lady up from a nearby town as she had been taken poorly whilst shopping.

Half-way there I was informed that she had been taken to the nearby hospital as the paramedic employed by the shopping centre was concerned by her condition.

I eventually located her in the A & E dept, sitting in a hospital wheelchair, having been told by the ambulance technicians to wait there to be seen by the triage nurse.

After an hour and a half, I asked the receptionist whether the delay in assessing her was normal only to be told that she wasn't booked in.

Apparently she was supposed to make her own way to the reception to check herself in, as the ambulance technicians didn't always do so!!!

The lady was so furious she asked me to just take her home.

I didn't spot many dead bodies in the waiting area, but I think that was more by luck than judgement!

Janine : For future info

Dead bodies aren't allowed to stay in the waiting area, they are required to make their own way to the mortuary.

Is that before or after they register - or perhaps they could hold a silent protest?

No, only after they register.  If they die before registration, they are required to remain quietly where they are, and pretend still to be alive so that they will neither look out of place amongst, or disturb the other tax payers patiently waiting for their own eternity.

I accidentally 'found' Yahoo groups and the one on 'Dogs', where people put on questions and you try to help them ... some of these ******** dodos haven't got a clue how to look after dogs!!!! Asking silly questions like - my dog isn't well and has been throwing up all day and is very lethargic ... should I be worried!!!!!! Or the classic for today was "I have just got a male 10 month dog and already had a female 2 year old dog, they can't mate can they as he's too young?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Some of these people are idiots!!!!

8-)

I remember some years ago I attended a road traffic accident late one night. A car driven by a girl of around 18/19 yrs, lost control and rolled the car two or three times. The roof was crushed down and the doors were unopenable.

On our arrival, an ambulance crew were already attending to the girl. As I walked up to the scene I told a couple of the crew to assemble the hydraulic cutting and spreading equipment. The ambulance man shouted at me to get a crowbar to force the door open. I told him that this particular car was fitted with 'antiburst' locks and it is quicker to use the hydraulic equipment.

He shouted at me again to get a crowbar. The crew stopped assembling the equipment and looked at me. I told them to do as I instructed. The door was sprung using the hydraulic equipment within minutes.

The girl was unconscious and the ambulance guy had already fitted a neck support on her through the open window. I said to him "tell me when and we'll cut the roof off". He ignored me.

Because the roof was several inchs lower due to the crash, I knew we couldn't get her safely through the door. I said again "when your ready we'll whip the roof off". Again he ignored me.

To my and the crews amazement he then placed his hand on top of her head and pushed her down to clear the crushed roof and a couple of the crew had to step forward to lift her clear.  Bearing in mind the girl could have had neck/back injuries, and being unconscious couldn't be asked any questions regarding pain/numbness etc.

He was obviously quite prepared to potentially worsen the girls injuries rather than ask me for further help. I suspect that if the girl had been his daughter, he would have managed the incident somewhat differently.

I have to say that was the only time I've ever seen ambulance guy act in such a callous manner.

Why are garages allowed to display a different price on the pumps to what they actually charge ?

I thought that was against the law.

I've not seen any shops doing it.

:-(

Are you sure Malc?

Sure of what - shops or garages ?
