CliveH
I was having a laugh Brian! And I kinda hope BGD is as well 8-) I am quite happy with a "luverly" description - especially from J9 who from her picture deserves that title far more than me. Sadly my mirror image is more akin to John Sargent, and he is a better dancer (lol) But even so I am happy with my own self image and it seems to be in the same order of magnitude to what others think and I am more than happy with that. It is only when someones self image is way out of kilter with what other people actually think of them that there is a distinct problem.
parkmoy
Which brings me to the rather crass statement by Parkmoy, he says not to stand in the way of people rushing to criticise England or you will be injured in the crush. The presence of smileys was intended to indicate the jocular nature of my comment which was made in the spirit of the lighthearted discussion we were having at the time rather than the continual bickering between certain other members. I'm sorry therefore that you feel the need to take it otherwise. However I'm not offended and won't be rushing into condemning parts of your posts which I may disagree with (lol)
nightrider
BGD - 2008-11-24 6:08 PM Malcolm X - sorry to be a bit of a pedant, but the Irish aren't in Great Britain (well, except the ones who now live in Great Britain). Great Britain is made up of two countries (England and Scotland) plus the subsidiary principality of England known as Wales. If you want to add Northern Ireland to the mix, then you need to refer to the group as the "United Kingdom"; that is shorthand for the full title of "The Union": the full title is " The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland". (Most of the island of Ireland isn't even in the "United Kingdom" at all of course, being the independent separate country called "Eire".) Pedantic moment now over.......... The point I was trying to make is, that the England we all refer to without going into all the technicalities which would need a lawyer to explain. Is forever being knocked by all and sundry, yet they all want to live here?

I share with you, I open my heart to you; nay verily I prostrate myself before you and tell you that I love you and want to have your babies, and you cast me aside. I csan see now that you have just played with me. I'm mortified. Gutted. :'( I am no longer available to be impregnated by such a gigelo. (Sp?) Hopesy
I feel disgusted with myself for reading these exchanges between warring parties but i just can't help reading the posts, i suppose it's a bit like reality T.V. addictive but it leaves you feeling slightly grubby afterwards. :D :D
nightrider
Hopesy, Why should you feel disgusted with yourself for reading these posts? any group manager will tell you that it is easy to enrole members but it is nigh on impossible to get them to post, you might have a group membership of 4 or 5 hundred members but just a hard core of 20 or so members that do post on a regular basis, check out who the main posters are on this chatterbox forum? any post is better than no post. K.O.T.R My post was tongue in cheek and what i was clumsily trying to say was that it seems i enjoy being a voyeur on these personally directed argumentative posts without wanting to join in. Part of me thinks i should just not bother because a lot of what is said is utter rubbish with persnal inults thrown in and another part of me finds it funny. As all parties seem to want to continue then i can view them. I was relieved to see the moderator has removed one thread that was particularly vindictive. J9withdogs
Of course there are great men, but I suspect that many of them had a very competent support-network which allowed them the freedom to go off and do great things. ie. a wife! nightrider
crinklystarfish - 2008-11-19 8:47 PM Well Rupert, quite simply, the conciliatory aspect was not present. Far from his claim, Knight… didn’t simply ‘skit’ he launched a persistent unjustified offensive, attacking me at every opportunity. I let it go for days before responding, initially with the simple request that he apologise. I have on many occasions now given him the opportunity to redress his mistake but he has simply escalated the issue. You are clearly not conversant with the history so I trust you’ll forgive me for treating your post with contempt. parkmoy, Grown up debate is fine by me, I do reserve the right to defend myself though, in circumstances where I’ve been misquoted and unfairly attacked. I’m sure you’d feel the same way if you were on the receiving end. Clive, As I said, I’m not quite sure why you see fit to constantly snipe using the distancing technique of your ‘third person’ prose. Virtually every time I have expressed a view you have used this weary technique in a vain attempt to undermine not my opinion, but me as a person. Like I said, if you oppose my views then fine, but why not just say so and have the ‘grown up debate’ that parkmoy suggests. Why do you constantly wait until someone opposes my opinion and then have a dig at me personally, rather than my views? Why do you do that Clive? I can only imagine it’s because in the early days we did go head to head on about three occasions and on each of those you were left looking a bit daft. You’re absolutely right; the outcome of any direct spat is assured. Is this why you find me so repulsive? If it’s not for this reason, perhaps you would like to explain why you can’t wait to have a dig. The same is not true in reverse, though you often spout very dubious views, I am happy to let them go without comment. What do you find so fascinating about me? You are bright enough to know that this ‘Knight’ fellow is in the wrong. Why then take the attack me from the sidelines on the back of his idiotic attempts? Do you work yourself up to a frenzy and enjoy the release when you get to have a ‘third person’ pop at me? You seem to me to be a sad individual, self-validated only by being ‘brave’ enough to stick the boot in from your anonymous position on the sidelines. It’s not just with me either. I see you did the self-same thing to Peter in Bruce’s recent attack. It must hurt you to know you are, in reality, so effete. Perhaps you’d be brave enough to explain yourself? As an aside, I do find it most strange that the same characters suddenly pop up time and time again when you find yourself on the ropes, often having been absent from chatterbox for a great deal of time. Coincidence? Oh, and Knight... Nothing more to say really, I know you'd struggle to read it anyway. Crinkly, This guy does not defend I only attack, I am meaner than Leroy Browns junkyard dog >:-)
