silverbike
We're planning a trip to Turkey next spring and I've heard from someone who has been there ,but I don't know when, that a carnet is required with a bond for a large amount based on the value of the vehicle (x2?). I searched a number of sites but can't find this information, only some info. for commercial vehicles and resident foreigners importing vehicles. Can anyone cast light on this? Thanks

Thanks Hi Judy, I've been travelling to Turkey in my motorhome since 2000 and you won't require a carnet to import your motorhome. A green card from your insurers will cover you. But you will need some breakdown/recovery insurance as the vehicle is imported duty free and if you cannot export it import duty could be payable before you leave the country. Your breakdown cover usually covers it. Also the vehicle details are entered on the drivers passport and they will not under normal circumstances be able to leave Turkey without the vehicle. If you need any further help we are here until the 29th December when we are off to Turkey again. Don
