Uncle Bulgaria
I'd be grateful for dvice on repairing a small crack I have in the rear wheel arch fairing on my van, caused when an unknown third party clipped the wheel arch fairing in a supermarket car park. The moulding is "acrylic capped abs" I think. Its certainly not GRP and it is of constant material thickness and smooth on both sides. I'll drill a small hole at the end of the crack to prevent further propogation. Can Forum members advise what plastic filler I can use to fill the hole and the crack. Something thin that can wick into the crack would seem to be in order. Grateful for any recommendations. Richard.

Brambles
Marley KS2 Pipe Solvent cement works well. If you mask each side of crack and then squeeze in it will bond the joint. From behind if you can get access you can use the sovent adhesive to layer on thin woven material to reinforce the joint. Something like Polyester cotton is fine. You can then hide the thin dark line of the crack by filling with paint and polishing. Ideally though the crack should be plastic welded, but needs an expert who can do acrylic capped sheet (from behind) or paint to match afterwards. Bill Ord
Try Plastic Padding Gel Coat Filler. It's worked for me, it's available in white if that's any help. I bought mine in the local caravan dealership. Bill Ord
