AnnPaul
It seems that I may have to replace the two leisure batteries in our Rapido. At the moment they are both 90 amp, should I fit say 110 amp and are 110's any larger in size. Should I get Gel or the normal ones, what sort of price should I be paying ? davenewellhome
Hi Paul, I'd say fit the largest capacity you can fit into the storage area. My personal choice is Elecsol, not cheap but very good quality and they carry a five year guarantee, also they are slightly larger capacity for the same physical size as other wet batteries. 110 AH is £109 each though 8-) . neillking
I've had Elecsol too and was very pleased with them. I've also had GEL and personally have had nothing but problems with them even though they were connected via a special GEL charging setup. My preference would be for Elecsol or AGM if your budget allows or simple flooded lead acid if not. One thing to be aware of though is the issue of venting. If you are installing inside your motorhome the batteries should be totally sealed or vented to the exterior. Some confusion arises over the term 'sealed', sometimes it means no topping up but not actually sealed. These are the most difficult type to deal with for our use because you need to vent them but there's no way of doing so easily!
